Dr. Shubhada Rao is the Chief Economist at YES Bank and is responsible for Economics Knowledge Banking providing macroeconomic research outlook at the Bank. She is a member of YES Bank's Asset and Liabilities Committee (ALCO). Dr. Rao brings with her over 24 years of experience in academia and industry wherein she has pioneered research design geared to facilitate business decisions.

Prior to joining YES Bank, Dr. Rao has worked with Kotak Institutional Equities as Chief Economist, with Bank of Baroda as Economist with Risk Management and as Head, Economic Advisory at CRISIL Advisory Services. She also served as Chief Economist with Times Bank. She began her career in banking with ICICI in their planning and treasury department after completing a PhD in Economics from the University of Mumbai.

She is an active member of the Economics Committees of Industry Associations and is a member of CII National Economic Policy Council, New Delhi and a member of the Monetary Policy Group – Indian Banks' Association (IBA). She had also served as Chairman of Economics Committee of Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry between 2009-11.

As a thought leader, she has made extensive presentations on Indian Economy to State Dignitaries of many OECD economies, Consulates, Ministers and Secretaries of State of the UK & US among others to present views on Indian Economy. Her views are often aired on domestic and international electronic and print media like CNBC, NDTV Profit, BBCWorld, Bloomberg and business dailies like Economic Times, Business Standard, Mint, Hindu Businessline, Outlook, Business Today, and Business Week among others.
