Why did you join Aon
Aon is recognized worldwide for its excellent reputation as an employer, and I am not just referring to the areas in which the company is commercially relevant, but also the importance it places on developing, improving and retaining its human capital. What motivated me to join Aon, apart from the opportunity to develop technical skills, was the perception that working for the company I would be investing in my career and developing myself in several areas of life, such as the ability to deal with people from the broadest range of backgrounds. Also, I was attracted by the fact that at Aon we can have several jobs in one, i.e., we can explore and move between the many areas that the company explores, being able to "change jobs" without necessarily changing company, which gives our professional path countless possibilities.
What would a ‘normal’ day look like for someone in your role?
Working at Aon is guaranteed not to have a routine and boring job, as the days are dynamic and predictable only to a certain point. Working in Broking is not just about dealing with emails, we have meetings with the internal team and meetings with the business areas that we work directly with, but mainly we deal with our partners daily, be they the insurance market or even the client. The way we approach insurers and clients tends to require creativity and innovation on our part, as we need to equalize the equation to achieve the best solution for both sides. Using our analytical capacity to understand customer needs and knowing how to convey them to the market, making the successes and failures of our delivery understood, seeking to improve daily considering the volatility of the world in which we live.
How you would describe the culture at Aon?
The culture present at Aon is transmitted by its employees regardless of the sector they are in, as it is transversal to all sectors, and I can say that it is based on a friendly and cooperative environment, where we are encouraged to give our best to the customer, but even more so to our peers.
What’s next for you at Aon?
After finishing my master's degree, my plans are to dedicate myself 100% to my career at Aon, as I will have more time to decide to carry out my duties and get more responsibility and autonomy in my job. The year as a trainee is aligned with the knowledge acquired at Aon and the master’s degree contributed to decision-making in my professional career. Increasing my network is one of the main objectives for developing my role at Aon, as it will open doors for negotiations and for my team to achieve new levels of success.
