President Signs Funding Bill Into Law
On March 9, 2024, President Biden signed into law the “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024,” (H.R. 4366) which provides funding for a select group of government departments through September 30. The law includes six of 12 appropriations bills. The House and Senate both approved the measure last week. Congress now turns its attention to the other package of six bills that would fund remaining government programs and agencies before those subsidies expire on March 22.

President Delivers State of the Union Address
President Biden delivered his State of the Union Address on March 7. During his speech, the President addressed a number of issues at the forefront this election year, including ongoing international crises, vowing to reinstate Roe v. Wade and protect women’s reproductive health care access, containing rising prescription drug costs, proposing a voluntary insurance market for paid leave benefits, drafting measures to counter the labor shortage, taxing the wealthy, implementing background checks on gun purchases, as well as AI advances and legislation.
