Leaders as Coaches: Developing Talent with Compassion


It is time for all the leaders to consider coaching as a key part of their role. Even though this requires a substantial investment of time, it would help them to develop personal compassion. We know from research that compassion at work produces various desired outcomes such as reduced stress and increased commitment at the individual level and lower turnover at the organizational level4.

The implication for organizations is the need to train leaders on coaching skills and sensitize them on the importance of coaching with compassion. We believe that an intersection of coaching with compassion will go a long way towards addressing the current leadership crisis.
