NIBA welcomes new President and Board appointments

Sydney, 7 February, 2019 - The Board of the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) welcomes the appointment of Aon's Chief Operating Officer Business Operations Eric Harris as the association's new President effective from 7 February 2019.

Mr Harris replaces Tim Wedlock, of Austbrokers AEI, however, Mr Wedlock will remain on the NIBA board as a director.

Mr Harris says: "I am extremely excited about taking on the role of President of NIBA. It is a huge privilege."

NIBA CEO Dallas Booth congratulates Eric on his appointment: "Eric has been on the NIBA Board since June 2012, and has been Vice President for the past two years."

"It has been a pleasure working with Eric over that time, and to have his insight and guidance on a wide range of matters - I look forward to working with Eric," says Mr Booth.

At the same time, Group Operations Manager, BJS Insurance Group, Dianne Phelan has been appointed as the new Vice President.

Mr Booth says he looks forward to working with Ms Phelan in this important role: "Di has a long history of serving NIBA members via various committees and working parties, and in particular her role as Chair of the NIBA Divisional Committee for South Australia."

"It is very clear that she is a highly experienced and professional insurance broker, well regarded by all who have dealt with her," says Mr Booth.

Mr Harris says: "Congratulations to Di in becoming Vice President. I am really looking forward to working with her, Dallas and the Board to help NIBA achieve its goals for our members."

Ms Phelan says it's an honour to become the next Vice President and continue to represent NIBA members:

"Working with Tim Wedlock has been an absolute privilege and I am looking forward to working closely with Eric, our new President."

"There is no doubt the next two years will continue to throw considerable challenges our way. Eric has a wealth of knowledge and is such a worthy leader who I am sure will do an admirable job leading the Board and assisting Dallas through these changes," says Ms Phelan.
