About Us

In 1974, Frank Robertson and Peter Durbin opened the Auckland Office of E S Knight & Co, a partnership of consulting actuaries operating in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Reed Stenhouse Ltd purchased a shareholding in the firm in Auckland in 1984. Following the worldwide merger of Reed Stenhouse with Alexander & Alexander interests, the firm practised as Knight Alexander Stenhouse Ltd. From 1 January 1991, Knights and its associated company, Superannuation Management Ltd, combined their operations to become The Alexander Consulting Group Ltd.

The Wellington office of ACG was opened in 1991.

The Aon Group and Alexander & Alexander merged in January 1997. The Alexander Consulting Group changed its name to Aon Consulting New Zealand Limited on 1 July 1997.

In June 1998, Aon Consulting acquired Jacques Martin's Actuarial, Employee Benefits and Investment Consulting Group. This strengthened the consulting teams in both Auckland and Wellington and led to the establishment of an Aon Consulting office in Christchurch. The company currently has 31 staff including 5 actuaries.
