Risk Financing Symposium: Managing Risk, Capturing Opportunity

Webinar

11:00 – 12:00 SGT/HKT

Today's dynamic business environment is characterised by unprecedented levels of uncertainty, ambiguity, and volatility. Strategy around risk retention, and the role that captive insurance can play in supporting an organisation’s business, have been front-and-centre to C-Suite deliberations.
Aon, in partnership with Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, is pleased to invite you to join us at our Risk Financing Symposium: Managing Risk, Capturing Opportunity to examine the instruments and opportunities available to you and your organisation, including:
  • Corporation captives

2022 Global Medical Trend Rates
Managing Asia-Pacific Employee Benefit Insurance During COVID-19

Webinar

11:30 – 12:30 GMT +8

Speakers: Alan Oates, Marina Sukhikh, Ashley D’Silva, and Todd Dore
The utilisation of medical plans has recovered from a low in April 2020 and is expected to exceed pre-pandemic levels during 2022 as pandemic related movement restrictions are further eased. Combined with rising inflationary pressures and an expectation that more COVID-19 cost will transition to the private sector, cost expectations are increasing.
Our 2022 Global Medical Trend Rates Report suggests employer-provided medical benefit costs in Asia-Pacific are forecasted to rise 8.2 percent in 2022, outpacing general inflation by 5.8 percent. The normalisation in utilisation patterns, emerging risks such as mental and musculoskeletal health, and the potential for a greater COVID-19 cost burden to fall on the private sector will require employers to carefully analyse their medical plans as cost pressures increase over the next two renewal cycles.
Join our webinar on Friday, 3 December at 11.30 am GMT+8 as we:
  • Share observations from claims patterns observed within Aon’s client base
  • Discuss how this is shaping our view of the future
  • Provide approaches and ideas to deal with the uncertainty, manage risks and capture opportunity

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted social factors that investors had not needed to grapple with before. Navigating the Future of Employee Care

Webinar

10.30 – 12.00 GMT +8

Speakers:Dr. Lee Mingyong of Fullerton Health, Richard Tan, Huang Jiwei, and Pamela Dianne D. Pare of Aon
Besides focusing on business growth and seeking new opportunities, organisations also need to keep up their efforts on employee safety and well-being. One of these aspects is when it comes to dealing with workplace injuries and employees’ compensation due to a work-related accident.
While employees are covered under Work Injury Compensation Act (WICA) wherever they work, including working from home, employers have no control over the working conditions of employees at home and so, in theory, their risk exposure is greater.
What are the implications of COVID-19 on Work Injury Compensation (WIC)? What are the recent trends of work-related injuries? As technology continues to improve lives, how can organisations better manage work injury medical costs and facilitate successful return to work of their injured employees?
Join us for a complimentary webinar on Thursday, 19 August as our panel of experts share:
  • Key findings of new variants of COVID-19 and its implication to various COVID-19 vaccinations
  • Recent trends of work-related injuries and how WIC insurance respond to COVID-19
  • Insights on latest underwriting requirements on WIC insurance

2020 signified a tipping point in cyber risk. Organisations have faced a notable increase in cyber incidents globally and in Asia, placing significant pressure on the cyber insurance market as the gap between losses paid and premium incurred tightens.
Most of these incidents involved cyber extortion. The proliferation of ransomware and the malicious encryption and ex-filtration of data has changed the face of the cyber threat landscape and the way that insurers perceive and underwrite risks. In turn, the way that organisations approach cyber resilience must evolve.
Hear from our cyber security and risk experts on how to proactively manage your cyber risk in today's heightened threat landscape, from an operational level as well as through risk transfer, as we:
  • Discuss the rise of ransomware and notable risk trends
  • Provide insights on how threat actors can exploit vulnerabilities and practical tips on the available tools to protect your systems
  • Explore the technical approach taken by insurers and risk engineers in the maturing cyber insurance market and provide guidance on how to best prepare your organisation for the underwriting process

Renewable Energy in Vietnam - Navigating Risk & Insurance

Webinar

15.00 – 16.30

Speakers:Nicki Tilney, Katoki Mwalilino, and Rajesh Auplish
The last two years have seen Vietnam's renewable energy ("RE") industry attracting investors' attention and growing at an unprecedented speed. Vietnam's latest Draft Power Development Plan (PDP8) is looking to increase RE's share in total national power production from 25.76% in 2020 to 43.75% in 2045.
In the interim, global and regional insurance market is hardening due to recent natural catastrophe losses and persistent uncertainty, leading to increased underwriting scrutiny and a conservative approach. Aon is estimating an average increase of 15% - 20% in insurance rate for RE risk in Asia (Asia Market Review 2021).
While much learning is still needed, RE operators in Vietnam still can obtain relatively favourable insurance terms and rate by differentiating their risk profile in the market, with good risk management starting from design standard, and superior technical underwriting information submissions.
This webinar aims to equip RE stakeholders with latest insurance market updates, provide an easy-to-digest explanation on how insurers underwrite RE risks, lessons learned from RE losses and claims around the world and how RE operators can differentiate their risk profile to achieve optimal insurance results.

Keys to Successful M&A in Asia

The fast-growing Asian market attracts entry and business expansion of multinational corporations and has been increasingly competitive in every industry. In response to the trend and the speed of the growth, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) over Asian local companies, that is 'buy time with money' has increasingly been a common business strategy to win in Asian market in a timely manner.
However, some issues in conducting M&A in the region persist, such as:

  • M&A in Asia lacks general liquidity, due to inadequate finance knowledge on both investors and sellers
  • Imbalanced information on investors over sellers’ business
  • Lack of financial discipline on sellers

2021 Protection & Indemnity Renewals – Status Report

Webinar

17.00 – 18.00

Speakers: Tom Bowsher of West of England P&I Club, Chris Chadwick, and Vladimir Ljubisavljevic of Aon
By late November, most Protection and Indemnity (P&I) Clubs of the International Group should have already announced their General Increases.
This, together with the fact that all underwriters will know the increases they need to achieve across their membership will mean that the P&I renewals are in full swing. Some owners would have already concluded their P&I renewals early, securing those “favours” with underwriters while they are still available, as discussed at our first Marine Shipping Seminar Series.
Join us on Tuesday, 1 December, and together with a guest speaker, Tom Bowsher, we will share the latest State of Play, developments of the Pool Claims in the third quarter of this P&I policy year, as well as the general P&I market outlook.
The webinar will focus on:
  • How the retained claims are tracked for the year and how are the renewals looking?
  • Outlining the top-level considerations of a P&I Club in the run-up to renewals
  • Understanding why renewals are affected by claims on the other side of the world

Preparing Your Organisation for the 2021 Protection and Indemnity Renewals

Webinar

16.00 – 16.45

With the continually evolving COVID-19 outbreak, little did organisations believe at the outset of 2020 that all renewals with Protection and Indemnity Clubs via their brokers would be a virtual affair. With Clubs not travelling to see their members and prospects, it is the personal relationships which will allow for the best deals to be made in the upcoming Protection and Indemnity renewal season.
As we speak, Clubs, having issued their 2020 renewal results, are already planning for their 2021 budgets, and by extension, renewals. This is significantly in advance of any General Increases which will be announced in late November/early December, which is typically when Protection and Indemnity renewal negotiations commence. What can you and your organisation do today to ensure that you are in the best position to negotiate with Clubs for the upcoming Protection and Indemnity renewal? What are the General Increases you can expect?
Join our complimentary webinar on Wednesday, 23 September as our industry experts give you a holistic perspective on:
  • An overview of the Clubs’ financial landscape
  • Understand how underwriters are preparing for the upcoming renewals
  • What you can do today to ensure that the organisation achieves results in February

Navigating the Future of Work Compensation in the New Normal

Webinar

10.00 - 11.15

Speakers: Dr. Faizal Kassim, Medical Director, Clinical Quality & Governance, Fullerton Health, Richard Tan, Pamela Dianne D. Pare, Assistant Manager,, Property & Casualty - Global Client Network
The spread of the COVID-19 globally has raised many concerns for employers as they try to do their bit in halting the spread of the virus in their community. While employees are covered under Work Injury Compensation Act (WICA) wherever they work, including working from home, employers have no control over the working conditions of employees at home and so, in theory, their risk exposure is greater.
Employers also hold various responsibilities under a range of legislation such as diseases sustained by an employee arising from and in the course of employment. What are the implications of COVID-19 on WICA? How can organisations facilitate a successful return to work for injured employees in the new normal?
Join our webinar on Wednesday, 15 July as we bring together a panel of industry experts to:
  • Review the latest development to Work Injury Compensation Act (WICA)
  • Understand the various diseases/infections arising from work (e.g. COVID-19)
  • Discover a seamless approach to employee recovery and facilitate early return to work of injured employees

Webinar

18.30 - 19.30

Speakers: Todd Leone, Laura Wanlass, Kumar Subramanian, Tzeitel Fernandes, Raymond Everett, Boon Chong Na
Over the past decade-plus of sustained economic recovery, many companies in Asia Pacific enjoyed an increasingly predictable outcome to their compensation. We now know those days are likely over as the market turns in response to the ongoing and evolving COVID-19 pandemic. This means it’s time for companies to rethink their annual cash and long-term strategies.
Join Aon’s panel of executive compensation, governance, and rewards experts on June 3 at 4:00 p.m. India time as we talk about adapting to today’s business environment and how your annual and long-term programs may need to evolve. In our 60-minute session, we’ll highlight the economic impact of COVID-19, along with rewards strategies and incentive actions to consider, while taking an industry-specific and balanced view to align near-term agility vs. long-term value creation priorities.
