Aon recently hosted our 2024 Hong Kong Panel Discussion on Navigating Challenges in a Dynamic M&A Environment on 5 June 2024 at the American Club in Hong Kong. We were delighted to have a great range of financial sponsors, corporates and M&A specialists join us for the event.
The discussion focussed on challenges around:
- Practical implications of current affairs and trends
- Bridging the valuation gap
- Intersecting M&A opportunities for corporates and financial sponsors
- The evolving risk appetite in M&A transactions
The session was moderated by Siddick Khan, Associate Director in our Transactions team with Daniel Bae, Executive Director, Moelis and Company; Justin Chan, Partner, Slaughter and May; and Jamie Wan, Director, Aon Transaction Solutions making up the panel.
Our esteemed speakers explored the rise of multi-stage transaction structures and how such structures are effective in helping close the valuation gap, along with the growing implementation of risk mitigating solutions as part of the M&A process, in particular tax insurance. Panellists also delved into the role Hong Kong plays as geopolitics shifts the M&A ecosystem in Asia, including a growing shift towards outbound deals into developing countries in LATAM and Africa.
“Hong Kong is a global financial capital and deal making hub. It’s great to see Aon making a concerted effort to engage the M&A community as a strong business partner. Look forward to more great events.”
Sucheng Chang, CEO of Aon Hong Kong
Earlier in the year, Aon was delighted to have hosted our inaugural Asia M&A and Transaction Solutions Conference in Singapore, focusing on the theme “Complexity to Clarity: Better Decisions for Mergers and Acquisitions”.
